First {youtube} tag being stripped was created by Mike Crane
Recently, when posting videos using the following code:
{youtube}VIDEO ID{youtube}
the first tag is being stripped, leaving:
VIDEO ID{/youtube}
visible, which does not embed the video.
Has anyone else run into this?

Apologies, I was using the "{/youtube}" at the end of the video ID, I just forgot to add the slash in my original post.

Is there a link to the page with the issue? Ensure that you are not using any HTML markup inside the video tags.

I've done some more digging, the problem only seems to occur when looking at a page in "blog view"
When reading individual articles, the videos show up without any problem.
I'm thinking this may be a template issue, as things are changing between those two views as well, even though it shouldn't be (RiverS template).
Blog view is at blog.michaelcrane.net
Example of individual article: www.michaelcrane.net/oak/index.php/blogs/yesterdays-nut/1672-barrrnacles-now-suck-twice-as-hard-as-they-used-to

I would try to disable for a while some other content plugins just in case there is a conflict with one of them.
